About

The Remittance Report provides a complete breakdown of all remittance amounts in a period.

Similar to the General Ledger report, the Remittance report is generated upon closing the period. This can be done either by going to Actions > End of Period or if you receive a reminder like the following when starting a new pay run:

Since it is generated only upon closing the period, this report may not accurately represent the remittances owed in your company's remittance period. For example, if you are a monthly remitter and have closed the period after 6 weeks of running payroll, the report will show the entire amount owed since the last time you closed the period. Of course, this would mean the report over-reported the amount owed for that period.

With this in mind, if you are remitting manually and wish to use this report, please be sure to be closing your period regularly – either according to your remittance frequency or after each pay run (if integrated with an accounting software). For more information on closing your remittance period, please see our guide, When should I close my remittance period?

Although closing after each run would under-report the amounts, you be able to easily reconcile by adding up the reports (rather than trying to break out multiple pay runs out of a larger report).

Alternatively, we also recommend using our Pay Run History report if remitting manually, as you have the ability to filter and select only the pay runs you owe remittances for during a given period.

Using the Remittance Report

1 – Created – this is the date the report was created – so it will also represent when the period was last closed.

2 – Payroll Date – this also represents the date the period was closed (in other reports, this can represent the payment date of a pay run)

3 – Type – this will always show CRA Remittance or EHT Remittance. If you have remittances for Revenu Québec, rest assured they will still appear in the CRA Remittance report.

4– View/Download – on the Business plan or above, you will have the ability to export the report to PDF or excel. Otherwise, you will still be able to view it by clicking the icon and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

From above, we can see a full breakdown of remittance amounts, including company portions of CPP and EI. If you are located in Québec or have employees with Québec as their province of employment, you will also see a complete breakdown of Québec remittances (QPP, QPIP, etc.) in the lower half of this report:
