The Summary report breaks down the net employee payments and remittances for you and compares it to your last pay run. For this reason, it is good to use along with the General Ledger report for determining the cost of your pay run. The report is generated once you finalize each pay run, so you will have one of these for each and every pay run you process. 

This report comes in two versions. If you View it, you will see it as the pie chart that appears upon finalization of a pay run. This version gives you a broad overview, providing the cost and employee net payments: 

*Note: the Total Payments figure includes the employees’ net pay and remittances. This will sometimes differ from the Cost figure on the right, as Cost also includes any non-cash benefits and accrued vacation. So, if you see a discrepancy between these two amounts, be sure to check for anything that isn’t debited from the account, such as accrued vacation and non-cash benefits. 

If you opt to Download the report to PDF, you can get a more detailed version of this report. Rather than only including the total payments, it will include a breakdown of all benefits and deductions, costs per each GL cost account and the amount for each type of tax.
